If you want to stay for a while afterward, you can or not, your choice. If you want a map of the assembly areas email Tim Ketchum.

16 May, SAT:
0900-1600 Aberdeen Proving Ground Armed Forces Day. Yes APG decided at the 11th hour to host this event. There is a 0900-1000 honor guard dedication to military servicemen/women, military ceremony parade and presentation. Then the rest of day is open for military vehicle display, demonstrations, some entertainment, air force fly by, but no live fire. The scope of this event is still evolving, I have had a section of the field reserved for WACBGMVT vehicles. I have 3 coming to date. Unfortunately no advance notice and it’s the week before our rally, but local members feel free to email me off line and I will keep you up to date. Tom B…. surplusyes@comcast.net

17 May, SUN:
Marine Corps Half Marathon, Fredericksburg, VA. We will display with a local car club. Must be there by 0600 because they close the roads after that. Must stay until roads are reopened to traffic. You must register as a volunteer on the marathon website. If you want to go, let Tim Ketchum know and he will give you the registration password. Porta potties and food available.

15-17 May, FRI-SUN:
The club has been invited back to the Armed Forces Day Open House at Andrews AFB this year. The rules are the same as last year. Please let Event Coordinator Tim Ketchum know if you would like to attend by 27 April so that he can start putting together a list. We have been invited to participate in the Andrews AFB Open House on May 15,16,17. Friday it is open for DoD, military and dependents and school kids. Sat and Sun it is open to the general public. Hours are 0800 to 1600. It draws over 500,000 visitors each year. There are several options you can choose from. There are two areas available for display. We will be with the Army displays. There is limited room in one of the large hangars and there is room outside on a grass area next to the concrete parking apron. You can have your vehicle on display for all 3 days or just drive it in for one day. If you have it on display for all three days, they prefer you bring it in on Thursday. If you trailer it in, there is an area where you can park the trailer. If you drive in for the day or one day at a time you need to arrive at the gate by 0700 because they need the vehicles to be in place when the gates open to the public and remain in place the entire day so there are no vehicles driving around in such crowded conditions. You will not be able to drive away until 1700 to 1730. Lunch will be provided to participants each day. We need a preliminary head count to determine how much space will be required. So if you think you want to do this, let Tim know by 27 April. He will need your name, the type of vehicle, in the hangar or outside and what day(s) you will want to participate. Later on we will get a more definite commitment. Security is very tight on base and eventually we will turn in a list of participants so you will be able to get thru the gates. Deactivated or dummy weapons are OK, plus other display items. Have any weapons out of sight when you enter the base and you can mount them when you are parked on site. Email Tim back before 27 Aprilor give him a call.
